The serve is one of the hardest strokes to learn as it has many segments which must follow each other for it to be consistent. The first thing to get right is the grip and stance. Stand with your left foot in front of you with you toe pointed at 2 o’clock. Your right foot is placed behind the left foot shoulder width apart.
Racket and ball are together in front of body. Both arms then go down together and at the same time as racket goes back behind body and up behind shoulder blade, the ball is pushed up gently in slightly in front of body and on top of left shoulder and just above full height of arm and racket reach. Racket is then swung in an up and out action( similar to a ball throw) to contact ball and finish down left side of body. This is for right- handed players, naturally opposite for left handers.
